Questions people ask

Where do the recordings go?
Into this browser's own storage on this device. Nothing is uploaded to chanio.com or anyone else. Clearing the browser's site data for chanio.com deletes them, so download the ones you want to keep.
Why no automatic transcript?
Because speech recognition in a web page is, by default, server-based: the audio is sent to a web service for processing (MDN Web Docs, “Using the Web Speech API”). This page keeps the audio on the device instead. Add a line by hand if you want one.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in a current Safari, Chrome or Firefox. The browser asks once for the microphone.
Can chanio on a Mac use them?
Download a recording or the list as Markdown and put it in your notes folder; the list is plain text that chanio reads.
